Los Angeles, California (The Hollywood Times) 10/9/2019 – “We host this at the USC Library and it is open to the public and is FREE. It is from 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., an all-day thing. We are also going to screen a sneak peak of our ‘Griffith Park’ episode and there is plenty else to see. We have about 80 different local archives from museums and libraries and they all come to Doheny Library to share highlights from their collections. A great opportunity to meet the archivists and librarians to connect. We take over the entire Doheny Library.” Nathan Masters, Public historian is host, producer, and managing editor of LOST LA, a KCETLink-produced television and blog series dedicated to using the region’s historical archives to recover LA’s lost histories and share them with a broader audience, told The Hollywood Times today about the upcoming event.
An exclusive sneak preview of “Griffith Park: The Untold History” will be presented at the Los Angeles Archives Bazaar, presented by L.A. as Subject and the USC Libraries on Sat., Oct. 12 at USC.
Nathan Masters, host of the Emmy Award-winning TV series “Lost L.A.,” co-production between KCET and the USC Libraries, will introduce the debut episode of the fourth season. At more than 4,500 acres, Griffith Park is one of the largest municipal parks in the United States. Its founder, the controversial and complicated Griffith J. Griffith, donated the land to the city as a public recreation ground for all the people—an ideal that has been challenged over the years. This episode follows Masters and author/hiker Casey Schreiner, as they visit a Mexican-era adobe within the park boundaries and ride the historic Merry-go-Round, where Griffith’s ideal of equal access was challenged.

Come and celebrate the diversity of stories that make Southern California such a place of discovery. At the Los Angeles Archives Bazaar, presented by L.A. as Subject and the USC Libraries, anyone with an interest in the region’s history will find something of value. A broad array of institutions and archives will have experts on hand to show off their collections and answer questions.
In addition to the wealth of information on display from exhibitors, day-long programming will feature preservation workshops and enlightening presentations.
The USC Libraries serve as the host institution for L.A. as Subject, an alliance of libraries, museums, and other archival and cultural organizations. The relationship complements the USC libraries’ strong regional history collection and is a natural outgrowth of the libraries’ efforts to preserve and expand access to the primary sources of L.A. history.
USC is minutes from downtown Los Angeles and is easily accessible by major freeways and the Metro Expo line. Doheny Library is located in the center of campus, adjacent to Alumni Park and across from Bovard Auditorium, on Trousdale Avenue.
