Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 4/24/2020–“It’s more important than ever that we come together as a community to support and bring a bit of joy to one another,” said Deb Bell-Versluis, Director, Corporate Communications and Charitable Foundation, Smart & Final. “We were thrilled to partner with the Dodgers to surprise Smart & Final shoppers in Jordan Downs with free groceries. We value our relationship with this neighborhood and are excited to give back to the communities in which we live and serve.”

Can there ever be too much kindness?

The worse of times has brought out the best in humanity. Total strangers are sharing what they have with those who are dealing with economic hardships in the way of food and basic necessities to live.

The Dodgers and the Dodgers Foundation continue to put their best foot forward. They launched a joint relief effort to help ease the stress of daily provisions needed by Angelenos earlier this month with the help of iHeartMedia. No, the Dodgers didn’t need a pandemic to give back to the city of Los Angeles but this upside down time in history has opened new doors for the organization to walk through and share some more “Blue Love” with the citizens of L.A.

April 23, 2020 – A Day of Surprises

Smart & Final is among a number of stores with exclusive shopping hours for vulnerable shoppers (seniors, expectant mothers, people with disabilities), health care workers, and first responders. As a key partner in the Dodgers’ relief efforts, supporting multiple organizations in Los Angeles, the grocery warehouse joined the Dodgers and surprised shoppers with free groceries and a gift card to help them during these challenging times.

Shoppers at the Watts location on 9850 South Laurel Street in LA were surprised and very thankful as they received the generous gift of having their grocery bill paid in full by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
