Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 2/4/21- Uninspired and in her forties, celebrated photographer Lana Freeman searches for the elusive visual “perfect moment.” When a young waitress saves her life, she becomes more and more obsessed with the young woman. Gradually, Lana pulls away from her husband, her work, and the people who love her, not realizing that the muse could destroy her life.
Pin-Up is a psychological drama by filmmaker Liz Lachman, starring Christina Chang (The Good Doctor) and Angela Sarafyan (Westworld) that explores the scintillating power of obsessive love. For Lana, she has reached a place in her life where she has become numb in her quest for capturing that perfection. Her near-death experience brings her back to life, but it’s that other pull, the pull toward the one who saved her, that ultimately brings her back down to Earth.
After all, it seems like the perfect romance; you’ve been saved by your dashing Galahad only to remember the husband and the bills, and the real world is all still waiting for you outside the red room. It’s a real bummer, but for Lana, the raw truth of life comes stabbing back just in time for dinner with hubby. What Lachman brings into the story that appears to have captured the attention of festival-goers and judges panels at over 30 events worldwide is the deep, deep need that we all have to want to simply be enough. How do we articulate these needs when we’re not in touch with our true selves?
Lachman taps into that craving many of us experience for the love of our mother or…that one person, but what happens if we were to have received it? That’s the power of the story here, bringing two lives together and challenging them to find their way out of it in their own unique way.
Lachman is currently in the pursuit of funds for a full-featured version of this fabulous short film and she’ll be sharing more about that with us this Friday at 5:30 pm PST on The Hollywood Times Live!
