Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 2/12/23 – The Humor Mill is the leading digital entertainment company for comedy news, with online outlets such as its website and digital magazine, as well as internet radio and television broadcast channels. Serving over 4 million households, The Humor Mill has served as a launching pad for many well-known comedians in the initial stages of their careers.
On February 21st, the Humor Mill will be hosting its inaugural awards ceremony at the Directors Guild of America. The show will recognize comics of the past, present, and future that have influenced Black Culture in the world of comedy. Legendary actor, comedian, writer, and producer Chris Spencer will be hosting the event alongside comedian Toney T. Roberts and social media correspondent actor Juhahn Jones.
Humor Mill founder Frank Holder briefly discusses the shows significance saying, “Comedy has undergone a significant evolution and has become more mainstream and widely consumed, but despite the tireless efforts of comedians, the recognition they receive is not always commensurate with their hard work, resulting in only a select few becoming well-known names. The Humor Mill Comedy Awards aims to bring urban comedy to the forefront and give proper recognition by introducing new voices to the world and honoring those who have made lasting contributions.”
The show aims to amplify the voices of the African American diaspora, taking audiences through relatable, personal, and funny comedy, particularly at a time when Black culture and their stories are being told.
