Austin, TX (The Hollywood Times) 03/10/2023 – The 2023 SXSW Festival opens this weekend with hundreds of TV, feature, documentary, comedy, music, and technology projects intermingled with hourly conferences and seminars.
Just a few of the many highlights include a conversation with Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Amazon Studios / MGM head Jennifer Salke. They discussed pay parity for lead actresses, how algorithms factor into programming decisions and the development process of streamer programming.
Other SXSW program highlights include a talk by Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm; OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman discussing the impact of generative AI; and the Film Fatales gathering in support of underrepresented filmmakers, hosted by Dawn Porter (The Ladybird Diaries), Michelle Mower (The Never List), and Ondi Timoner (The New Americans).
The Opening Speaker is Simran Jeet Singh, Ph.D., the Executive Director of the Religion & Society Program at the Aspen Institute and the author of the national bestseller The Light We Give: How Sikh Wisdom Can Transform Your Life (Riverhead, Penguin Random House).
Other discussions in the opening day include seminars on healthcare, journalism, AI technology, advertising and the future of the food, and climate.
