On Wednesday, April 12, 2023, SHOWTIME® hosted a premiere event for the limited series, WACO: THE AFTERMATH. The red carpet, screening and reception were held at The Crosby Hotel in New York, NY. Series stars Giovanni Ribisi, Keean Johnson, David Costabile, Kali Rocha, Michael Luwoye, Michael Cassidy, John Hoogenakker, J. Smith Cameron, Kieran Mulcare and Michael Vincent Berry were in attendance.
Starring Oscar® nominee Michael Shannon (GEORGE & TAMMY) and Emmy® nominee Giovanni Ribisi (The Offer), WACO: THE AFTERMATH focuses on the fallout of the Waco disaster: the trials of the surviving members of the Branch Davidian sect, which forces them to explore their own complicity in supporting a young Vernon Howell’s ascent to become their prophet David Koresh; the birth of the militia movement and more specifically a critical look at what happens when a marginalized population, disenfranchised by the federal government, gives rise to homegrown terrorist, Timothy McVeigh.
The series also stars Emmy and Tony Award Winner John Leguizamo (When They See Us), joined by David Costabile (BILLIONS), J. Smith Cameron (Succession), John Hoogenakker (Dopesick), Keean Johnson (Euphoria), and Abbey Lee (Lovecraft Country).
The series will premiere on Friday, April 14 on streaming and on demand for all SHOWTIME subscribers and on-air Sunday, April 16 at 10pm ET/PT on SHOWTIME.
WACO: THE AFTERMATH is produced by MTV Entertainment and 101 Studios. Returning creators and showrunners Drew Dowdle and John Erick Dowdle direct all five episodes and executive produce the limited series alongside Michael Shannon, Taylor Kitsch, Andrew Gettens and Lauren Mackenzie. Also serving as executive producers are David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Bob Yari and Ron Burkle of 101 Studios, as well as Gary Barber of Spyglass.
