Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 12/9/23 – Picture this: you’ve just concluded a workday that felt like a double shift packed into a single grueling experience. The only solace you seek is in the embrace of leftover pizza, complemented by a convenient bottle of 2-buck-chuck from Trader Joes, all while immersing yourself in the captivating world of your favorite true crime series.

The Gatsby TV application is named after the company’s co-founder and CEO, Gatsby Frimpong.

However, the quest for your go-to comfort program turns into an intricate search, leaving you frustrated and drained by the time you finally locate it. As the minutes slip away, the precious moments allocated for your nightly wind-down session become casualties of an elusive streaming ordeal, rendering your ‘me time’ an unfortunate waste.

But now, a solution is presented! Enter Gatsby Frimpong, the Co-Founder and CEO of Gatsby TV, a Stanford-based tech company at the forefront of this revolution. Gatsby TV has recently unveiled an app that not only simplifies the process of discovering television shows and movies but also consolidates all streaming services into a single, user-friendly platform.

The app allows users to conduct seamless searches across various services, providing detailed information, including ratings from authoritative sources like IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes.

“There is kind of like this golden period where you have finished eating right before bed and you want to watch something that will slowly get you to doze off,” the CEO of the self-titled company explains. “I wondered why it is that people have such a hard time finding something to watch on TV so I decided to come up with a solution.”

The Gatsby TV app aims to streamline this process by offering a centralized hub where users can efficiently find where to rent, stream, or purchase a particular title. Moreover, the app serves as a personalized repository for recommendations received from friends and family, eliminating the need for endless scrolling when it’s finally time to watch something.

Launched in 2023, the Gatsby TV app has already garnered 100,000 plus users. What sets it apart is its ability to bridge the gap between our screens and social lives, thus promoting community! The app not only allows users to see what their friends and followers have recently watched but also facilitates the sharing of recommendations for shows and movies.

Further, what has been uncovered for Gatsby during the build out of his company is just how ineffective some search methods are on existing streaming platforms.

“Search is biased!” he said. “When you search for something on Apple TV, or Netflix, the algorithm is trying to push you toward certain things. I personally think that’s why it takes people so long to find things because of the profit motive.

“These companies are trying to push shows on you that you genuinely do not want to see. What differentiates Gatsby TV is that we do not provide streaming content like Netflix or Hulu, we provide a way to search through filters and recommend content.”
