Every time I drive to Acrisure Arena, I think about how we in Palm Springs proper narrowly escaped having the stadium downtown. The drive for me is a short 30 minutes door to parking lot. And it is becoming “shorter” in my mind as I attend more events.
So Friday’s Pride Night with the Coachella Valley Firebirds will be my second trek there in a week, having seen The Eagles and Steely Dan. And it’s a drive I’ll happily make knowing that thousands of autos are not clogging the arteries of our humble burg.
There are still tickets available for tonight’s game – including the $99 package including a pre-game drag show. And speaking of humble, look for our KGAY award-winning morning host John Taylor riding the Zamboni in between the 2nd and 3rd innings – err periods.

Palm Canyon Theatre presents Del Shores’ Sordid Lives playing from January 19–28. The playwright himself, Del Shores will be in attendance on Saturday, January 20 doing a Q&A with the entire cast after the show. When Peggy, a good Christian woman, hits her head on the sink and bleeds to death after tripping over her lover’s wooden legs in a motel room, three generations of a family gather in a small Texas town for her funeral. The sad, hilarious truth of their “sordid lives” erupts in this cult classic, a black comedy about white trash. Get tickets
