Hollywood, CA (The Hollywood Times) 8/8/23 – I attended the 29th annual Little Miss African American Scholarship Pageant on Sunday, August 6th, at The Barnsdall Art Park Gallery Theater in Hollywood.
The event was star-studded. Hosted by Erica Gimpel (Mayfair Witches, The Night Agent, Sylvie’s Love) I of course recognized her from (Fame the TV series) she mentioned attending the school fame the movie was based on.
The pageant judges were Grammy winner Erica Campbell, former member of Mary Mary, Stacee Mcbride Irby, Home economics Jordyn Curet, Actress Elia Cantu, Days of Our Lives star now streaming on Peacock makes me want to start watching again. Carlacia Grant, Netflix’s Outer Banks was so excited to be there. Broadway veterans were there alongside Saundra McClain; Ingrid Hadley, Founder ILH Possibilities & Gene Hale, CEO of G&C Equipment Corporation; and with so much Barbie talk, I was able to meet Former black Barbie designer Stacey McBride-Irby who briefed me on her reasons behind designing Mattel’s first black barbie. I got to meet former Little Miss American scholarship pageant recipients and current Miss Juneteenth 2023 Adaobi Nnamuchi & Ghostwriter star Princess Mapp former MAAP winner 2016.
