Review

“Montross: Blood Rules” is a well done, if slightly overdramatic, film. The actors brought their A game. If you like films about family secrets, corruption, and power dynamics this gem is up your alley.

Spoilerish warning…I’m not going to talk about the specific plot details because I don’t want to ruin it. I am going to talk about one scene without context.

There is one scene that will stick with me for a long time. The scene where Uncle Teddy and Robin are sitting in a prison cell and he’s threatening to expose her is nothing short of phenomenal. The acting and writing in that scene gave me “Better Call Saul” vibes. Anyway, “Montross: Blood Rules” gets a 9/10 from me.  It is actually pulling double duty as they set up a lot at the end of the film. I think as well as being a good film, it does a really good job of being an extended pilot if TV One or Paramount plus picks it up for a series. I’m excited to see where they take the characters from here on out.
